The Township of Howick has implemented a minimum $10 fee for all residential waste taken directly to the Township Landfill starting January 1st.
The fee is said to be implemented to help offset landfill operating costs and support improvements, ensuring its long-term service.
Curbside collection bag tags will remain $3 each.
The Township reminds that the landfill is for items not able to be picked up through curbside collection.
There will remain to be no charge to drop off materials to the landfill including recycling items, clean wood waste or brush, metal products, garden waste or electronics recycling.
