The Mount Forest Family Health Team is urging extreme caution when using unregulated drugs due to the current supply being more potent than usual.
The health team says local testing has shown fentanyl is present in other substances in Mount Forest as well as Harriston and the surrounding communities should also exercise caution.
The health team adds to take measures to reduce the risk of an overdose including carrying naloxone, to never use alone and start low and go slow.
