Health Canada has issued a recall on oven mitts sold at Giant Tiger after reports of the mitts melting and catching on fire.
Proctor Silex Pantone oven mitts may melt or catch on fire when in contact with high heat, risking burn and a fire hazard according to the recall note. Health Canada confirms there have been 3 reports of oven mitts melting and catching on fire but no reported injures.
The recall is for oven mitts sold at Giant Tiger between August 2020 through March of 2021, the mitts in question are grey, navy, red or taupe.
Anyone with a pair of the oven mitts should stop using them and return them to Giant Tiger.
