The Harriston Skating Club has received a donation coming from the proceeds of Catch the Ace.
The Harriston Legion has donated $3000 to the skating club which will go towards supporting local skaters and keeping skating accessible to families in the community.
The club has long been part of the community offering skating programs allowing performances of all ages and abilities.
Stephanie Foster, President of the Harriston Skating Club says this support from the Legion will also help keep costs down for families, allowing more to join in.
“The last year has been challenging for us just with a change in economics and club size. It was super exciting to see the club get this donation from such a local charity. We try not to ask for help more than we need to but it’s going to go a long way at keeping the prices affordable for families to stay as members of our club and for new members to join.” said Foster.
While the season is done this year, plans are already in the works for next season come October with updates, registration and the announcement of potentially new events expected over the summer.
