Hanover Man Assaults Officer, Tries to Flee Traffic Stop

A Hanover man has been charged for fleeing a traffic stop and assaulting an officer.

Police say on April 16th they investigated a report of a suspected impaired driver on 10th Street at around 11:30pm.

Officers found the vehicle in question at a drive thru.

The suspect refused to provide a breath sample and then punched an officer in the face and attempted to flee.

After a short chase the suspect was arrested and was found with methamphetamine and open alcohol as well as being prohibited from driving.

The 24 year old man faces multiple charges including assault with intent to resist arrest, driving under suspension and possession of a schedule one substance.
