The cost of just about everything at the grocery stores climbed as the annual inflation rate rose last month.
Statistics Canada says its consumer price index for April rose 6.8 per cent when compared to a year ago.
The rate is now the highest since January 1991 when the annual rate was 6.9 per cent.
Canadians paid an extra 9.7 cents for food at stores in April as food costs rose 8.8 per cent when compared to April 2021.
Also felt was the price at the pumps again with a rise of 36.3 per cent last month when looking at last years numbers.
Natural gas rose 22.2 per cent with fuel oil and other fuels rising 64.4 per cent.
