New data shows with the rising cost of food bills, the average food cost for residents in Grey Bruce has hit to nearly $1100 for a family of four per month.
The Grey Bruce Health Unit punched numbers of food affordability which also showed a single person to buy basic groceries is spending $400 a month.
The health unit is pushing for policy changes and community response to address towards food insecurity, affordable housing and accessible transportation.
Studies across Ontario have found around one in six people in the province experiencing food insecurity.
