With the reopening of the Province comes the realization that organized sports will soon return to area fields, arenas and other sporting facilities.

One team not leaving anything to chance with an upcoming season approaching is the PJHL Mitchell Hawks. The team plays in the North Pollock Division against such area rivals as Wingham, Hanover, Walkerton and Kincardine.

GM for the Hawks Josh Keil says the team already has a returning core of players.

“As bad as the pandemic has been on hockey it has actually given us the time to plan properly. Now we are just executing the plan and building the team. We are fortunate to have 17 returning players with 11 of them already signed. Our core players signed for the upcoming season.”

The team already has plans for getting those players and a few prospects on the ice to see how they play together.

“Now we are hopefully going to have a rookie camp in August and our main camp in September. Plus a home and home exhibition series with Woodstock end of August or early September. And a few more exhibition games hopefully before the October 1st start date.”
