Sports teams are looking to return to the field and the ice as the Province makes its way through the steps to reopen.

One category taking steps to re-start their play, expand and strengthen their game is girls hockey in Perth County.

Mike Hall, OWHA Town Contact for the Central Perth Predators Minor Hockey Association, says girls hockey is making strides and just needs a few more players added to the roster to be able to play.

“Listowel doesn’t offer girls hockey right now. I believe it’s because they don’t have enough ice time for it. I do believe there is demand for girl’s hockey in Listowel. What we are able to offer because we are a smaller community and we do have 2 ice surfaces we use is an all girls program.”

Mike says a dedicated girls program, as opposed to one that is co-ed seems to provide greater results for the players on the ice.

“We find that lots of the girls excel when they are with other girls in the dressing room and on the ice”.

If you are or know a female hockey player that is looking for a place to play they are welcome to contact Mike Hall at [email protected] for more information.
