A four way stop will be added to Elizabeth Street West and Argyle Avenue North.
North Perth council approved the move Monday night following a review was done by staff after an accident in May.
During the review, enlarged stop signs were added after the accident with the process underway of an assessment of traffic at the intersection, accident history, visibility issues and pedestrian volumes to see if the criteria was met to install two new stop signs.
Manager of Operations, Lyndon Kowch says the intersection has a series of accidents making this move an obvious one for council.
“There have been historic accidents at that location in the past over the last 3 years as we’ve studied through it.” said Kowch.
The cost for the installation of the new stops signs as well as some tree removal at the intersection are accommodated in the operational budgets.
