Four Listowel Dancers set to Travel the World to Compete for Canada in Dance Competitions

Fundraisers are being held ahead of their travel as Canada does not recognize competitive dance as a sport for funding.

Local Listowel School of Dance performers will be competing on the world stage with 4 dancers set to travel to Egypt and Germany to compete in World Ballet, Jazz Dance and Tap Competitions.

Mila Campbell, Keely Chauvin, Emilly Mann and Jill Schalk will be taking part in the competitions later this year.

Leading up to that there will be fundraisers being held to help defray the cost of them competing as Canada does not recognize competitive dance as a sport.

Keely Chavin’s mom Tami Cressey says there are fundraisers both online and in-person coming up.

“All the dancers have individual GoFundMe pages plus we are also doing some fundraising and businesses can look forward to some visits and letters coming soon.”

The first fundraiser being held is a delicious one. Diana Sweets Restaurant is holding a Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, August 25th in support of the Team Canada Listowel Dancers.
