Premier Doug Ford dished out a long rant against “weak kneed judges” and a broken bail system on Tuesday after he learned all but one suspect in a $50 million drug bust in Peel Region was already released from custody.
Police who revealed the bust last week and the nine arrests called it the largest single seizure of drugs in the force’s history but later confirmed eight of the suspects were out on bail.
Ford let loose after he learned of this information.
“They’re back out on the street again. Bail. Except one person. Can you believe that? They actually get released on the largest drug bust in Peels history. 500 kilos of cocaine which can ultimately kill people.’ said Ford
Ford has long been calling for a change to Canada’s bail system who in April sparked the idea have having elected judges.
