The Ford government scrapped a controversial hiring practice for teachers Thursday.
For nearly a decade supply teachers were hired by seniority.
Education minister Steve Lecce announced the move saying they want teachers hired on merit.
Lecce said principals should be able to hire the best teacher available, not the one who has been in line the longest.
