First Nations Teenager Working on Ribbon Skirt Project

Wolfe hoping to have 215 skirts made by December 21st

A teenager from a Southwestern Ontario First Nations community is relying on the help of others to help complete her project which is aimed towards helping young Indigenous women proclaim their cultural heritage.

Jaylynn Wolfe, the 13 year old who is working on the project known as the Ribbon Skirt Project to have 215 ribbon skirts made to be given to Indigenous women 18 and under.

The number holds significance as it was the number of remains found at a former residential school site in British Columbia earlier this year.

Wolfe and her family who live in Kincardine hope to have 215 skirts made by December 21st.
