Its Fire Prevention week across the country. Day 1 here in Listowel we thank and remember those who have served with the North Perth Fire Department and the list of volunteers who have devoted their time to keeping the region safe.
We remember the lives we lost in 2011 during the blaze at a nearby dollar store which claimed 2 volunteer firefighters.
30 year old Raymond Walter of Listowel and 56 year old Ken Rea of Atwood lost their lives while searching the building for anyone who may have been trapped.
Their memorial continues to stand outside by the OPP building in Listowel.
