Fire in Stratford Believed to Have Been Caused by a Squirrel

A fire last week in downtown Stratford is believed to have been caused by a squirrel.

Stratford Fire Chief Neil Anderson says investigation found a squirrel had interacted with an electrical line in the attic of 110 Ontario Street which sparked a blaze.

Anderson says the getting to the fire in the attic of the building proved difficult which has resulted in considerable water damage to the apartments and an ice cream store.

There were no reported injuries in the fire.
