More information has been shared regarding Tuesdays blaze in Elma.

Shortly after 5pm all 3 North Perth Fire Stations were called to a reported structure fire.

When crews arrived they found a barn and shed engulfed in flames with animals housed in the barn being safely removed with the help from neighbours.

A firefighting water reservoir on a neighbouring property allowed for rapid access to a consistent water supply.

Fire Chief Janny Pape says it was a long night at the scene with many firefighters having worked a full day, working a full 12 hours on scene.

The NPFD is grateful to the following:
-The Perth East & West Perth Fire Department for providing apparatus and crews;
-neighbours who removed animals to safety and provided food and coffee to responding crews;
-Horst Excavating for supplying heavy equipment;
-Tim Hortons Listowel ON and A & W – Listowel Ont for keeping our crews fed;
-Foxton Fuels for refueling apparatus on scene; and
-North Perth OPP and Perth County Paramedic Services providing support during that emergency.

There were no injuries in the fire with the barn and shed being a total loss.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
