Fire Ban Issued Across Bruce County

 

A fire ban has been issued across all of Bruce County.

Fire chiefs in the county have collectively declared a fire ban on all open air burning with the exception of campfires for cooking and warmth.

The ban will remain in effect until a time its been declared safe to lift. The Fire Danger Rating in Bruce County is listed as Extreme.

The fire danger rating takes in a variety of factors that could increase the threat of an open fire such as wind speed, ease of ignition, precipitation levels and difficulty of control.

All open air burning permits, agricultural burn permits and fireworks permits have been suspended.

While campfires for cooking and warmth are welcome, they must be supervised at all times and extinguished when finished.
