Fight for Farmland Responds to Wilmot Land Purchase

Fight for Farmland who’s been going against the Region of Waterloo’s move over the purchase of land in Wilmot Township says there has been no proper planning, a lack of information and an absence of public consultation.

Last week, Waterloo announced they had acquired one third of the 770 acre parcel intended for industrial land.

Fight for Farmland says the claim is misleading saying the actual percentage of land acquired is only 21.7 per cent – leaving almost 80 percent to still be acquired.

The group says the community continues to left in the dark and all proper planning processes are abandoned.
