Wellington County OPP are investigating after a Fergus resident has lost $50,000 in an online scam.
It was reported the resident received communication from those claiming to be with a cryptocurrency exchange platform.
The victim was told there a security concern related to the victims crypto wallet and accounts who was told to complete various actions involving their account.
The victim, having believed the issue solved later noticed unauthorized crypto transactions who had lost $50,000.
The victim contacted both police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
