The federal government has announced a $100 million investment in support of Canada’s cattle producers.
On August 6th, federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau announced the funding under the AgriRecovery framework.
This will greatly benefit farmers in Northwestern Ontario who have seen a major drought which has left producers without feed or water for their animals forcing some to sell off cattle to stay afloat.
Under the framework, the federal government will match provincial dollars on a 60-40 cost share.
The federal government is still working with other provinces to finalize agreements and more details are set to be released soon.
