The government is set to increase the federal tax on alcohol starting April 1st.
The tax will increase to 6.3% and apply to beer, wine and spirit sales.
The excise tax automatically increased every year based on the rate of inflation. The tax was first introduced in 2017.
According to facts from Beer Canada, an advocacy group on behalf of brewers and adult consumers, nearly half of the retail price of beer is taxes.
It currently sits at 46%.
