Wellington County OPP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Mapleton Township yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to the intersection of Wellington Road 8 and Wellington Road 10 at approximately 3:30 pm on reports of a collision of a commercial motor vehicle and a pickup truck.
Police, Guelph Wellington Paramedics, Ornge and Mapleton Fire attended the scene where the driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the vehicle was transported to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending a next of kin notification.
The OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team are assisting the OPP with the investigation.
