Fall Hydrant Flushing Going in Stratford

Fall hydrant flushing is taking place across Stratford for the next six weeks.

Typically in the spring and in the fall, flushing is done to remove iron which might have settled in the watermains and as preventative maintenance on fire hydrants.

During this work residents might notice some discoloured water but this will not affect water quality.

Should you see any discolouration you’re asked to run your cold water for 10-15 minutes until it clears.

If water doesn’t clear in that time you’re asked to turn off the tap and wait 30 minutes.

The hydrant flushing is not on a fixed schedule.
