Explosions could be heard in cities across Ukraine including Kyiv as Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation into Ukraine.
Putin has claimed the attack was needed to protect civilians in eastern Ukraine which western powers claimed would be said to falsely make a justification to invade.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded writing Canada condemns in the strongest way, the attack on Ukraine, adding its in violation of Russia’s obligations under international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Trudeau will meet with G7 partners to respond to the acts, which could likely be additional sanctions to ones already in place.
An advisor to Ukraine’s President says around 40 people have been killed by Russian attacks in the country.
