Exeter Villa Long-Term Care Home announced today the passing of a resident who had tested positive for Covid-19.

Both the Long Term Care Home and Retirement Home are now in outbreak. On the Long Term Care side there have been 14 total confirmed cases in residents and 6 confirmed cases in staff.

On the retirement home side, there is 1 confirmed case in a resident and no cases among staff.

All affected residents continue to be cared for at Exeter Villa. Huron Perth Public Health’s website reflects the increase in case numbers in their next data reporting cycle. Over the holidays HPPH will report data on December 31st and January 2nd.

Prevalence testing at Exeter Villa is completed weekly for staff and every 5-6 days for residents. Staff also continue to be actively screened and will report any sign of symptoms in residents for timely follow up. All resilts in both sides of the facility remain isolated in their rooms in order to prevent spread among any undetected, asymptomatic cases.

The facility remains in daily contact with HPPH to support case and contact management and infection control.

Exeter Villa has experienced an outpouring of support from families responding to the daily updates being provided and in term appreciates the community partners who have provided additional suport and assistance, including the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance, South West Local Health Integration Network and Ontario Health.
