The Town of Erin has welcomed its newest Freightliner Tanker Firetruck.
The tanker replaces the old Tanker 58 which can carry 3000 gallons of water and helps set the standards on the level of water coverage needed to fight fires on rural properties were there might not be hydrants.
Fire Chief Jim Sawkins says this allows people in rural Erin to experience similar insurance rates as those who live in hydrant protected areas.
The truck was purchased from Dependable Emergency Vehicles for $582,000.
