If you were wondering what the traffic delays were when the OPP issued a news release last Friday the events Saturday cleared up the confusion.

Residents of Erin held a car rally to protest the town’s proposed wastewater treatment facility is planned to be constructed in the village.

The procession of cars featured such things as toilet plungers, signs outlining their opposition and toilet paper were on display for the 20 minute long route through the village and past where it is proposed to be built.

The local council has invested $2 million dollars on such things as environmental assessments which are being used in the development of the facility with the environmental impact in mind.

The Village currently relies on aging septic tanks and sewage systems that are outdated when it compares to systems in other towns across Ontario.

As per the Town’s website the tanks have begun to fail and there are concerns it can be harmful to the environment.

The new system will carry all wastewater to the single wastewater treatment plant. It will support the needs of the community by allowing the septic system to be phased out and will allow for the sewage needs of the community to grow along with the town over the next 20 years.
