Enbridge Line 5 Pipeline Disruption Could Cause Issues in Perth County

Pipeline helps supply Perth County with propane

The Keystone XL Pipeline isn’t the only pipeline issue facing Canada with its American partner.

The State of Michigan has ceased its partnership with the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline and has ordered Enbridge Gas to cease its operation by May. The challenge is regarding the pipeline on the Mackinac line, an environmentally sensitive region.

Daryl from the Perth County Federation of Agriculture says this can be an issue for Perth County.

“This is how Sarnia gets a lot of its petroleum product to make the propane we use here in Perth County and for that matter, a lot of Ontario.” said Daryl

Daryl added its up to the public to stand with local MPs to fight back against ending a treaty in place since the 1950’s and not to damage Ontario agriculture. Enbridge Gas has said it will not stop operations and is calling on the federal government for support.
