Emergency shelter beds and transitional housing units are coming to downtown Guelph.

Last spring county staff worked with staff at Stepping Stone Grinham Architects on developing 23 Gordon Street with the goal to increase the number of emergency beds in the area.

The site is a two storey building owned by Stepping Stone who operate an emergency shelter services on the main level with an administrative office on the 2nd storey.

Both staff have worked together to add 24 new emergency shelter beds and 12 new transitional housing units.

Construction of the project is estimated at around $3.5 million with staff securing capital funding for the project to the amount of $3,941,000 but communication embargoes are not permitting staff to announce the source of the funding at this time.
