The Listowel-Wingham Hospital Alliance says following a fire at the Listowel Hospital on Tuesday, the emergency department is running and fully operational.
The blaze which was just kept to the 2nd floor in an area under construction resulted in no injuries.
The LWHA says there is still smoke damage in the inpatient area and patients attending the emergency department who require an inpatient admission will be transfer to neighbouring and regional hospitals.
A total of 29 patients were safely evacuated from the 1st and 2nd floor inpatient units and transferred to 7 regional hospitals.
Extensive cleaning is being done with air quality testing being conducted.
The LWHA adds they do not expect to have their 1st floor inpatient unit available for admissions until at least June 3rd.
