Medical Officer of Health for Huron-Perth Public Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen has issued a statement regarding schooling and a hopeful return to in-person learning when its safe to do so.
Since the start of the pandemic, 12 percent of the COVID-19 cases in Huron-Perth have been between the ages of 0-19. Dr. Klassen says Huron-Perth will follow new safety measures for in-person learning such as having students from grades 1-3 to wear a mask and asking students not to gather before school.
Klassen ended her statement saying its up to the community to contain the spread of COVID-19 to allow schools to reopen again.
Dr. Klassens announcement follows the Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce announcing 4 health units would be permitted to have schools reopen in certain regions on Monday. Huron-Perth and Wellington County were left off the list of public health regions who will be back to in-person learning on Monday.
