Doug Ford Cabinet to be Unveiled

Ford to be sworn in at 11:15am

The new provincial cabinet, led by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, will be announced on Friday.

Ford will be sworn in alongside his new executive council by Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell.

The premier has a larger pool to choose from for his cabinet this term, with 83 PC Members of Provincial Parliament elected on June 2nd.

Ford’s previous cabinet had 28 members, however, reports speculate that the number could grow this time around with Ford breaking up larger ministries into more concentrated agencies.

While it is unknown who will be chosen for each position, former MPP Christine Elliott will no longer be serving as health minister after her decision to retire and not run in the election.

Elliott served as the Minister of Health for all four years of the previous term. Some published reports this morning suggest she could be replaced by Sylvia Jones.

Huron-Bruce’s Lisa Thompson took the role of Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs after Ernie Hardeman last June.
