As part of the Transit Feasibility Study, North Perth council held a special meeting to discuss the topic.

Dillon Consulting Limited has taken on the North Perth-St Marys Transit Feasibility Study.

Currently the timeline is still in the stages of taking in engagement with hopes throughout the summer to develop a plan, come fall get a final report and by November have a final presentation to deliver to council.

Dennis Kar with Dillon Consulting says while public transit in rural communities can be tough to pull it off, it needs to be thought of considering a lack of it can leave many behind.

“Those who don’t own cars it could be new residents, seniors, youth with limited travel options. Sometimes they’re often forced to relocate where there is more mobility options. Businesses is underserved rural communities often have trouble attracting new employees in an entry level position. Transit is that option.” said Kar.

The stage of this study is still in its early stages and the public continues to be encouraged to share their thoughts.
