David Card of Guelph Wins Nobel Prize for Economics

Card the first Canadian this year to win the award

 

Canadian David Card has won the Nobel Prize for Economics.

The 65 year old born in Guelph was awarded one half of the prize, shared with Joshua Angrist from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and 58 year old Dutch born Guido Imbens from Stanford University.

David Card, of the University of California at Berkeley is being recognized for his work on pioneering research on the labour market impacts of minimum wages, education and immigration.

Card is the first Canadian this year to win the award.
