It’s Atwood proud for Dave Arand who was named in Canada’s Top 4 under 40 in the poultry industry from Canadian Poultry.
Dave joins Dr. Teryn Girard with Prairie Livestock Veterinarians from Red Deer, Alberta, Emma Rutherford a broiler farmer in Woodstock and Conrad Vanessen, an egg farmer and Egg Farmers of Alberta director in Coaldale, Alberta.
Dave operates a turkey farm, who got into farming at a young age but was not always a turkey farmer.
Dave had to transform his pig farm into a turkey farm which didn’t get the biggest of support from banks who didn’t believe in him which lead to tough funding to start the turkey farm.
The success however showed, as in 2020 during the pandemic, Dave expanded the business, building a new Turkey Barn and will begin shooting a short video later this summer as part of Farm Food 360.
Dave’s video with Farm Food 360 will be all about beans, showcasing the entire process from farm to plate.
Canadian Poultry will also feature a series with interviews of each of the winners.
