Farmers in every municipality on the Grand River watershed are reminded they can apply for cover crop incentives through funding from the Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund.
Those in Wellington and Waterloo on the watershed are encouraged to apply which over its course has provided over 400 producers receiving an incentive to introduce cover crops to more than 30,000 acres of land.
The benefits of cover crops including reducing erosion, holding nutrients and improving soil health as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Applications can be submitted now for payments in spring 2024.
