Preliminary Vehicle Speed Data has shown the County’s one year Automated Speed Enforcement Pilot Programme is working as intended.
The program is designed to curb speeding, alter driving behavior and increase safety for the community.
Going from January 15th-April 30th vehicle speed has been reduced on average by 17 per cent at the five trial locations in the county.
Further, compliance with the speed limits at the these locations has also improved with a 66 per cent increase in vehicles on average traveling at or lower than the posted speed limit.
Roads Committee Chair, Gregg Davidson says the ASE has never been about punishment, it’s been about education and keeping our communities safe.
