Wellington County will be planting some pollinator habitat areas this fall as part of a trial on county right of ways.

Roads committee chair, Gregg Davidson shared with county council that should the trial plantings show success there are benefits for future plantings in the area of the county road network.

There areas where planting will take place are at 8646 Wellington Road 16 between Arthur and Damascus and 7749 Wellington Road 17 just north of Fergus.

The benefits of this planting is to have lower long term maintenance costs, water and snow capture as well as adding roadside aesthetics and providing pollination services and climate change mitigation.
