County of Wellington repurposing staff to assist with Covid-19 vaccination

Staff will be handling data entry tasks as part of Province's COVAX system

The County of Wellington has instructed select staff to new roles assisting in Covid-19 vaccinations.

The redeployment will last from between 3 to 6 months and will work to assist Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health. It current affects 25 staff members.

The move was announced today and County Official say staff will assist with data entry of consent forms at various sites and at the main hub site at the former Groves Hospital in Fergus.

The Province is using a system called COVAX which requires real-time populating with the information of vaccine recipients.

The County staff take on the data entry portion of this system to make the vaccination process much more efficient.

They will remain employees of the county but will work along wide Public Health staff.

Additional staff may be assigned to these as necessary.
