Road safety is being ramped up in Wellington County with an automated speed enforcement campaign starting next week.

A list of cameras will be setup across designated school and Community Safety Zones to address driver behavior and curb speeding.

The pilot project is expected to start on January 15th. Don Kudo, County Engineer for Wellington says overall this boils down to keeping the area safety.

“The benefits of automated speed enforcement is really all about traffic safety. We are trying to better enforce the speed limits on our roads and having people comply with the speed limit we should reduce the critical accidents on our roads.” said Kudo.

Some locations where these will be setup including in Minto on Wellington Road 123 at the intersection of Henry Street to the intersection to York Street.

The list on where some of the enforcement will be taking place can be found here.
