Council will be giving some thought on allowing the use of ATV’s on a portion of North Perth trials.
Shawn Thompson, President of the North Perth and District ATV Club spoke with council on matter on Monday.
As it’s currently allowed, riders are permitted to ride from 6am-10pm with Thompson saying they might look at shortening the hours in the evening to allow for safety.
When it came to enforcement, Thompson mentioned himself and other members in the club are taking programs to become wardens to enforce rules and safety.
“Myself I’m taking the warden program, one of my other directors is going to take the program and anyone who wants to volunteer for it as well. It could be anywhere from 2-10 wardens out there at a time.” said Thompson.
The club will also take the initiative to keep the trail maintained which is also used by walkers. bikers and dog walkers.
Council has advised staff to have a report prepared on the matter for a future meeting.
