A fitting discussion for North Perth council tonight given the heat warning in effect as council reviews the extreme heat and cold policy.
While the municipality has supports in place in the event of heat warnings such as cooling stations, extreme cold weather is another concern in North Perth during the winter with staff having amended the Extreme Heat Policy to include extreme cold thresholds.
The amended policy now outlines the temperature thresholds to determine the need for policy implementation for both extreme heat and extreme cold which will come into effect when warnings are issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
A recommendation to council is to approve the proposed amendments to the Extreme Heat Policy.
