Minto council was jam packed for another discussion in regards to having neutral zones for Minto in regards to flying flags and crosswalks.
Members who ran the petition returned to the chambers to clarify their position who are seeking to only have the Town of Minto flag, Canadian flag and Legion banners hung on public property.
Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson expressed her concerns on the petition saying it opens up a precedent on what can and can’t be put up.
“You’re one or the other. You can’t say ‘we recognize this group and we respect them, they can put up banners and have fundraisers but this group that we don’t like they cannot.'” said Anderson.
Mayor Dave Turton says they will be taking all groups concerns on both sides of the debate as the town works on drafting a new policy.
Its expected the new commemoration policy will return to council next month.
