If you’re curious as to what fish you can find across the Upper Thames River Watershed, the Conservation Authority has taken care of that for you.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority’s Fish Surveying Team has had a challenge this season identifying fish species given the wet weather and heavy rain making river water high and cloudy to work safely.
Despite the challenges the team was able to look at 69 sites across the watershed.
White Sucker, Central Stoneroller, Rock Bass and Smallmouth Bass were among the most common observed species. Less common such as Northern Sunfish, Black Redhorse, Mottled Sculpin and River Chub were seen in more restricted distributions.
Fish survey field work will continue until late 2024.
