While the reconstruction of Elma Street has seen a small delay, council still tackled how to handle restricted access for commercial trucks at Mondays meeting.

Kurtis Smith Construction who is heading the work is currently doing temporary water services and start up with heavier construction next week.

While work gets going, commercial trucks will need safe access to Union Street.

The proposal from staff was to remove the restriction in place for trucks on Union from Wallace Avenue South to the Union Street bridge.

Lyndon Kowch, Manager of Operations  says this move will still allow customers and workers for Spinrite to have proper access.

“We’ve been talking with both the Spinrite store about the sale in August and the plan for logistics for people coming and going. It’s going to be a weekly and daily update going forward with the inspector and construction company but we have a plan making sure they are open everyday and accessible.” Kowch

Council approved the move which will be in effect until October when the Elma Street construction is complete.
