The Coldest Night of the Year event is almost here and the United Way Perth Huron’s North Perth Community Committee is reminding people there is still time to register and take part in this Covid-safe, family-friendly walk.
The Coldest Night of the Year 2021 is raising money for programs in North Perth supporting youth through early intervention counselling, counselling for youth who witness domestic violence and community support for youth who are homeless. The walk is also raising money for the United Way’s Urgent Needs Fund, supporting local residents in a time of crisis with funds for essentials like rent, groceries and medication.
Instead of being a 1 day event, walkers can walk anywhere, any time, any distance between February 20th and 28th. So far 149 walkers, including 43 teams have raised over $40,650 – already exceeding North Perth’s goal of $28,000.
By joining now, walkers can help the Coldest Night of the Year provide even more support for those experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger locally.
To start a team, join a team or donate to a walker visit cnoy.org/NorthPerth Walkers 18 and over who raise $150 received a Coldest Night of the Year toque. Walkers 17 and under who raise $75 receive a toque. Toques are being safely porch dropped to walkers in the coming days leading up to February 20th.
After finishing their walk, participants are encouraged to visit the “selfie station” at the Scotiabank in Listowel to take a picture and post it to social media.
