Cleland Automotive Expansion Gets More Council Support

Cleland Automotive is another step closer in getting council support for an expansion.

A zoning bylaw amendment has been among the discussion of council for the last month who approved a third reading on the last meeting of the year.

The lot in question at 5621 Line 81 was given a brief staff report by Perth County Planner Nathan Garland with some concerns raised in regards of the expansion of businesses in a rural setting and with parking.

Pierre Chauvin with MHBC Planning says the business doesn’t handle the sale of cars and any which need to stay at the lot will be stored.

“Our client is not selling vehicles, they’re not in the business of storing vehicles, they repair vehicles. The vehicles will be stored when they are waiting for their customers to come back or for it to be repaired” said Chauvin.

While an idea of some restricted parking was a thought for overnight parking, council ultimately voted to not have any parking restrictions in the third reading.
