Following a weekend snow storm and some mild flurries around throughout the week, firefighters are reminding residents its important to clear any fire hydrants on your property of snow.
In the time of an emergency, having a fire hydrant cleared of snow with around 3 feet of space in between is requested as this gives fire crews much needed saved time to properly deal with an emergency should one arise.
Firefighters are also reminding residents to clear snow and ice from gas meters, vents and exhaust pipes as an ice covered exhaust can do more damage than just shutting down a furnace, risking a chance of carbon monoxide entering the home.
