The James Street United Church in Palmerston is warning residents of an ongoing scam hitting locals involving churches.
Emails are being sent requesting for gift cards for someone in need. Scammers will ask for numbers from the card, promising to pay back later.
Emails sent in come looking official with reports of a church in Mount Forest being recently victimized.
The James Street United Church says they will never request money this way and to be aware of the scam and be wary of any online request for funds.
